Team FAQ

Hopefully all questions that are frequently asked are answered here to save you having to ask other team members

How do i get to use the members commands?

Members commands are available on the front page. There will be more available to you once you log in. Select the Log in option from the front page

Put in your member name - like this: MysticR Briton
NOT like this: MysticR_Briton

Put in your password which you chose when you registered with us. If you didn't understand the registration process and did not put in a site password, ask a trustee when U see them online, or on the forums and they will get you into the members commands. If you have forgotten your password, select the lost password link on the front page.

I am a recruit, how do I become a full Mystic?

You have to serve at least 14 days trial period as a recruit to ensure you meet the entry criteria of our team. During this time you should get to know the other members, as they will be voting for you when promotion comes up. A list of these can be found here.

We are a friendly bunch here and like to get to know each other, so we like people to send in their photos. Please upload your photo (read below)

After 14 days have passed you should select the "Promotion" option from the members box and apply for promotion.

You must continue to use your recruit name until you have been promoted and your name appears on the team members list or you have heard from us via Email.

How do I upload my photo?

Your photo is stored on our web site together with your membership details. When you first sign up, a dummy picture is put in place of your normal photo. You can upload your own photo to us at any time, by going into your account settings and clicking Upload Photo - Account / Edit my profile.

There are two photos to upload. One Thumbnail (which appears on the team listing page) and one larger photo which will appear next to your membership details for all site visitors to see. We recommend you use Windows Imaging, or Paintshop pro (Obtainable from download.com for free) to resize your picture before uploading.

Please make sure your photos are of type .JPG before uploading, and the thumbnail should be 80 pixels wide, by 100 pixels high and main picture should be 400 pixels wide, by 300 pixels high. The link for your account is here

Message Boards

You will not see all of our message boards, as many of them are hidden and for long-term members only, however, you will see more once you have registered with the boards. You must register as soon as possible in your Mystic name (not MysticR)

Register as a user with our advert-free boards

You will then have to wait for an administrator to authenticate you before you will have access to the private boards, so please message a member of the Ruling Body after you have registered and they will give you access. Ruling Body members are listed on our front page.

What are the rules on Forum Avatars?

You are allowed an avatar in your signature, but it must not be too big, maximum sizes are 500 pixels wide by 125 pixels high, please do not exceed these dimensions or your avatar will be removed.

The avatar which is next to your name, on the left of our forums should be a maximum of 64 x 64 pixels.

How do Mystics Schedule meeting times?

Take a look at the front page of our site, you will see a clock ticking away. This clock is scheduled to Universal Time, Universal time is the same as GMT and is abbreviated to UT.

The clock on our site will read the same time wherever in the world you are viewing it. Therefore, you can schedule your games to be at say 18:00 UT and you can be sure that all other mystics know what time that is.

Please always use UT instead of other timezones as its easier to work out because of the existance of our site clock.

What is the Ruling Body?

The Ruling body are a select group of people who have been members of the Mystics for a very long time and they make important decisions for the team. For example, they decide who should be offered jobs, what should be done about a troublesome member, which games we should adopt and rules concerning them, they vote on issues which come up from time to time and make sure the mystic law is upheld.

Members of the ruling body are among the most important members of the team and they should be treated with the utmost respect. They have acheived their position by being extremely dedicated to the team over a number of years and months, its a good idea to ask them for advice if you need it.

What time are most of the team members on Saturdays 18:00 Universal time to 23:00 UT is the time when most Mystics are online, but also weekdays from 16:00 - 23:00 theres quite a few and Weekends, most times.
OK, I have just become a Mighty Mystic, what now?

Make sure you know the Mystic Law (translations can be made if required). Make sure you have all members on your "friends list". Read the members FAQ (front page link). Remember, you can invite any other mystic into a game, don't always wait for them to invite you, although its best to check with trustees orrb members first as a mark of respect.

Upload a photo of yourself, it will appear in the team list. We are a friendly clan, this adds a nice personal touch, you will be looked upon highly by the Mystic God if you send in your photo.

We have many message boards on the site, register your name with them, and take part in the discussions, remember, you are a member of the team and as such you can speak on our behalf to the general public. All contributions will be appreciated by the rest of the team.

Can I play on the ladder

The ladder is not currently being used and has not been for some time - however

We have our own internal Mystic ladder for all games we play. You should try and get involved in this, as it tells the others how good you are, and will ensure you are chosen for the most suitable matches.

You can get started in the ladder as soon as your name appears on our team list. Recruits are welcome too. You will not lose your ranking if you are promoted and change your name, just play 1v1 vs another Mystic - read the ladder rules and enjoy!

Remember! - Its the WINNER who reports the game on our ladder, NOT the loser! - So if you dont get the points, its your own fault! Ladder reports are made in the members area.

How should I behave in the team?

If you are unco-operative and don't mix with the other members, you will not be promoted to Controller. Or you may be removed from the team.

When you are asked to try out someone, or to join a game with other Mystics and you refuse constantly, then you will be considered unsuitable for our team and will be removed. We do not like big-headed members. If you are a good player and you constantly put down other members of our community it will not be tollerated.

How do I get medals? Only the most prominent and dilligent will get medals, you really have to be exceptional at something to get a medal, they are not given out to recruits and very seldom to controllers. See the medals page to read about them, but basically the Mystic God has to be very impressed with you to earn these, they also don't come straight away, they have to be earned over a long period. Normally Medals are awarded once a year. New Years Day.
What is expected of me?

You are expected to uphold the Mystic Law and take on the advice of this FAQ.

You are expected to be reliable and dependable, loyal and committed, don't say you will do something if you cannot, and don't take a job in the team which you cannot cope with.

How do I send a recorded game?

Take the game file and rename it to something appropriate so everyone can see who it is playing before watching it (like Mystics Vs TOC Clan 15 Feb 2007.mgx), then zip it if you can. Then click the uploads button in the members area and follow the instructions.

If this procedure doesnt work, ask on the team forum.

Can I change my name?

When you sign up, there are certain names which you are prohibited from choosing, this is because they are too similar to other Mystics who have gone before. If you cannot select the name you want, but think it might be allowed because its not "THAT" similar to another Mystic, then send a personal message to Mystic Briton within 24 hours of signing up. He might change it for you.

We are not happy about changing your name after Mystics already know you by another name, as it requires a lot of work. therefore make sure you like your name at the start, and do not sign up with a name you don't want.

Once you are a controller you cannot change your name, however, if you get promoted to trustee or above, you can change your name, providing you meet the following criteria.

  • Have acheived RB approval
  • Have uploaded a photograph (so we can remember who you were)
  • Have a good reason for wanting to change

Send a PM to an RB member, or post a request on the team forum.

What if I can not be on for a while?

Well if its only for a couple of days, no problem, if its a week or more then you should notify the other members by putting a message in the team forum.

If you will be away for several months then you should message a ruling body member who will give you advice.

What will happen if I don't play as the name I have been given? The name that you signed up with is your identity to us, its the only way we know who you are, and we do not like people changing their names. There are special rules for smurfing, however, if this happens for a long period, your position may be withdrawn. You also will not be welcome in Mystic games without your real identity.
What is an officially adopted game? As an on-line gaming community we take on many games from time-to-time, however, we only adopt a few of them as official games.

Games become official when they are announced as such by the Ruling Body. The Ruling Body will consider the following things when deciding if a game should become official:

  • How many members are playing it
  • How many members intend to play it
  • How much interest is being shown in the game at our web site
  • Whether its the kind of game which we should adopt
  • Whether members recruited from this game, will fit in with our future games

Any games which a member of the mighty mystic community plays which are not listed in our official games are unofficial. This means that you can play them, and invite other members and site visitors to join you on these games, but you must use your mystic name to conform with the mystic law. If enough interest is shown, this game could become official in the future.

An official game will become unofficial when too few of our members are playing it to create enough interest and to generate the support which the Ruling Body feels it deserves.

Smurfing The rule about smurfing, is that you may smurf, providing that your smurf name is very similar to your Mystic name, you should not however, change the spelling of the Mystic part of your name, nor add anything to it. Also you should have informed the rest of the team of the name on the team forum first. Please note that Mystic_Briton_ or Mystic_Britons would be ok for Mystic_Briton to use. But not Briton, MBriton, Misstik_Briton or anything similar. Please note, recruits may not smurf.
What is a Trustee?

Only the most honourable and dedicated members can become Trustees. When they have served a considerable time as a Controller and shown great dedication and commitment will they be offfered a Trustee position.

Trustees are the heart of the Mystic team. They are members you can rely on to give you good avice and always be there.

How can I become a royal?

Only team members who have already been members of the ruling body can be royals. Royals are usually less active than trustees. Royals can become trustees again when they are more active.

Find out more about positions here

What is the procedure for trying out new members?

Applicants who have applied to join us since the last time you visited the site are available via a link on the front page. These guys should be sought and introduced to other members of the team. Your duty as a team member includes making sure these applicants are dealt with, so make sure you get to know them a bit.

Any applicant can be made a recruit by any member who has the password to the registration page. If you have access to this password it should appear when you click the link for it (on the main page). This password changes each time a new recruit registers, this is to prevent a recruit registering twice.

When a recruit has the password, tell them to go to the registration link - should be available from the recruit menu. They will also need an identity code which they would have got via Email when they signed up.

If a our entry standard is not acheived, it is possible for the member to become an honourary member, however, it is necessary to serve as a recruit for a period of over 1 month before an honourary position can be considered.

Is there a fast sign-up procedure?

Yes. As a full member, you can recruit anyone who you see online before they have even signed up to be an applicant. Just tell them to go to the web site and register as a recruit straight away (not an applicant). Give them the recruit password and tell them to put the identity code 'mysticx' (without the quotes) when asked for it.

Using this procedure allows the recruit to be signed up in seconds rather than days, ideal if you meet a suitable player online and are convinced they are good for us.

What is an honourary member?

Honourary members used to be used for recruiting not-so skilled members, however, they are not used anymore. Since the adoption of guild-based members there was no need. Their names used to begin with HMystic_ instead of Mystic.

Who is in charge in games?

The Mighty Mystic who is in the highest position will give orders. If two have same position, then the one who has been in the team the longest. These orders should be respected. People are not given a high position unless they know what they are doing. Team games are not like a 1v1, there has to be some team spirit, a plan and help given if needed. Most good players will not need help.

How do I upload my recorded games so the others can see them?

Click the Upload link on the front page (members area only) and obey instructions.

We prefer ZIP or compressed files as its quicker and its faster to download. Also make sure that the zip file name AND THE FILES INSIDE the zip are renamed to something descriptive, like "Saracen + Briton Vs KQT Clan 15 October 2004 - Mystic.ZIP" or "Mystic_Smith tryout vs Mystic Hun", then the file will be put into the approprate place when it arrives.

How do I download my uploaded files? You can find the files you uploaded by looking in the download menus on the site, or in the members area - site files.
How do I get in the team forum?

The team forum is only for Full Mystic members. Recruits have their own board and should use this one. If you are a controller and still cannot get in, ask a Leader and they will give you access.

The strategy forums are available to those who have been with the team for a good while.

How is Mysticteam.com Financed?

Our web site is financed by its members (you), but we do not ask for anything, all contributions are voluntary. If you are in a position to donate money to our site, you can click the link at the bottom of our home page "Donate" at any time.

Any amount no matter how small is appreciated, this is how we manage to keep such an active and fast site operating, and we do not have any popups or adverts whatsoever. This means our members can enjoy being a member of this community without any hassles at all.

What is an official clan game and what are the rules concerning them

All games can be recorded, but if your team consists entirely of Mystics, and the opposition consists entirely of one clan, then you must be careful. If you record then it will count as an official clan game.

Official clan games can only take place if all the players are recruits, or full members. The highest positioned player is then responsible for reporting this match (win or Lose) in the members area. Please adhere to existing reporting procedures by looking at those reports before submitting your own to ensure you are using the correct layout. If you do not record, then there is no restrictions.

How do I become listed in the top 10 players for my game?

Make sure you are logged in on the front page of our site and click PROFILE and change the box which says "Game rated applies to" and select the game you want to be rated on, then save.

You will not actually appear until a new scan is made. The new scan can be done by any member from the members control panel. The scan will look through all players who want to be rated on that game and update their ratings from the data on the ratings pages elsewhere on the internet.

You will need to refresh the front page of the site before you appear on the list.

How do I become listed in the top 10 War3 players? Make sure you are logged in on the front page of our site and click PROFILE and edit the box which says "Game rated applies to" and insert in there TFT. Then go to the link in the members password box on the front page which says Bnet ladder set and a new calculation of the top players will take place. You will then appear on the list after you have refreshed the page. Note, you will not see the link unless you are logged into the web site.
Top 10's on the web site do not seem to be working.

Our top 10 Mystics in a particular game lists are made up from scripts run on our web site. These scripts query the relavent database's on the gaming sites themsleves - NOT OURS!

From time to time, the gaming sites' databases go down and you cannot access their data. This stops our top 10 from functioning properly. There is nothing we can do about it because we do not hold the gaming data and its out of our control. If you wait a few days you will find the scripts will work again once the gaming site has fixed its database.

Top 10's are updated by clicking on the relavent link - ask a trustee if you are unsure which link updates which top 10.

How do I post a news item at the site?

The front page news items on the web site are posted by members. You are a member and will be expected to contribute towards them.

If you have a good recorded game, post it up there for us all to see, we can then comment on it ( you will have to upload the file first to the site though).

Write news items when there is something interesting which you think all members should know, its important to keep the front page of the site dynamic, so many stories are better than few!

To write a news story, go to our news forum and post a new topic. Only full team members can post news topics, but all site visitors can reply to them.
