 | | Well, 2008 seemed to fly past, but very low activity for us. Personally I have not played computer gaming much at all in the last year and I fear that is what has happenned to many of the Mighty Mystics.
Is it me or are games just not inspiring any more?
I am sure a legendary game will come out which will be simple and straightforward, but will require great skill and give us great enjoyment. I stay around waiting for that time!
These boards are safe, you can rest assured. The ruling body are fairly inactive, but Mystic Ratboy continues to show dedication beyond the call of duty. Well done ratters. I should also commend Mystic Hun for visiting the site probably more often than I!
I also thank those regular visitors who still come along despite some bad feeling in posts between members and realise that we are all here for the greater good and one day hopefully the Mighty Mystics will shine again!!!
I would like to wish all our visitors and members a Happy and Successful New Year.

 | | Starcraft 2 announced TRILOGY |
|

What is that I say? Trilogy? I'll explain more. Star-Craft 2 is being shaped up with a lot of expectation. As we all know from previous topics here on the MysticTeam Forums, IGN gave Starcraft 2 a place in their all time greatest game a spot of #5. This in itself makes it a lot to live up to, throughout this years blizzcon Blizzard have been working hard to keep Star-Craft 2 like its predecessor by making sure the balance of the races is kept and a epic storyline unfolds! Well, I have some good news and bad news for you Mystics. Will start with the bad news: Bad News - The bad news is due to the expectation to be released (for aparently from loads of sources the end of fall but probably not I am betting april 2009) they will be forced to delay parts of the game. Good News - Instead of waiting for everything in the game to be completed we're getting a trilogy for star-craft 2. Thats 2 expansion packs coming out every 6-8 months probably. The first one is called Wings of Liberty and it focuses on the terran campaign. The second is The heart of the swarm based obviously on the zerg and finally the third and final one is Legacy of the Void which is based on the protoss. This does not mean you will play starcraft 2 multiplayer terran vs terran all the time. They will include the units of each race but obviously with expansions come major changes, so expect that. But I have even bigger bad news. "Although Activision claims
the game will be released in 2009, like all Blizzard Entertainment
games expect it "when it's done." Which conceivably could be 2010." With this much of a wait, I think we should start looking into other games so we can get ready for SC2. As for Diablo 3, well, I have my bets on that coming out before hand. Other news to note, Wrath of the Lich King comes out soon! ~Fire

 | | Diablo III is being developed as the definitive action role-playing
game, and a true continuation of the Diablo series. Players will create
a hero from one of five distinct classes, such as barbarian or witch
doctor, each equipped with an array of spells and abilities. As these
heroes adventure through rich and varied settings, unraveling an epic
storyline and engaging in combat with hordes of monsters and
challenging bosses, they’ll grow in experience and ability and acquire
items of incredible power. The game takes place on Sanctuary, a
world of dark fantasy. Unbeknownst to most of its inhabitants,
Sanctuary was saved some twenty years ago from the demonic forces of
the underworld by a few brave and powerful heroes. Most of those
warriors who directly faced Hell’s armies -- and were fortunate enough
to survive -- went mad from their experiences. And most of the others
have buried their haunted memories and pushed the horrors from their
thoughts. In Diablo III, players will return to Sanctuary to confront
evil in its many forms once again. Diablo III will be a fitting
sequel to Diablo II, with the easy interface, fast-paced action, and
visceral gameplay that Diablo players have come to expect and enjoy. It
will also include many new features that will take the Diablo
action-RPG experience to the next level. Features:- Five powerful character classes to choose from, including the barbarian and witch doctor
- Brand-new 3D graphics engine enhanced with spectacular visual effects and Havok physics
- Numerous indoor and outdoor areas detailing new regions in the world of Sanctuary
- Interactive environments with dangerous traps and obstacles, and destructible elements
- Randomly generated worlds bolstered by scripted events for endless and dynamic gameplay
- Vast assortment of fiendish monsters, with unique attack patterns and behaviors
- New quest system and character-customization options for the ultimate action RPG experience
- Multiplayer functionality over Battle.net with support for cooperative and competitive play

Blizzard have finally bothered to explain the unit known as the Banelings. Evolutions of the Zergling, these are in black and white explosive units like your old infested terrans that walk up to enemies and blow themselves up doing a good deal of damage.
http://eu.starcraft2.com/features/zerg/baneling.xml
But also if you have not been noticing, blizzard bought the domain www.diablo3.com off the owners who have almost fully transferred over to Diablofans.com which Blizzard bought for them. This is a good indication of a Diablo based game coming out proving my theory on a Diablo MMORPG on the horizon, OR either Diablo 3 or a Diablo RTS.
Ill keep Mystics informed on what Blizzard are doing.

After a lot of research into StarCraft 2, I think with the lack of updates here that another update on it is necessary.
The SC2 Site has the Zerg Section up but only contains information on the Hydralisk and Mutalisk. These two creatures in past SC game had evolutions to such monsters like Guardians and Devourers for the Mutalisk and for the Hydralisk it had the Lurker. It is not confirmed yet if Blizzard shall keep certain evolutions of Zerg but it is probably going to happen.
The story of SC shall continue as firstly the Terran Marine, Jim Raynor. You will see in the top picture it shows the brand new briefing room for the Terrans which is inside the battlecruiser known as "Hyperion" for those who remember the hero unit Hyperion this should be a campaign cheer for you. The terrans in the story are not as well off, though they're the most controlling race aparently at the moment, for Jim's crew, they're short on money and his men are losing faith and with the revenge of the Zerg coming ever closer, whats next for the terrans?
The Zerg and Protoss if you do not know are children from the Xel'Naga. They made the protoss first and then the Zerg and in which the Zerg killed them. But in SC2, it is heard that the story for these two races shall go over their ancestory and over the new race known as the Hybrid. For those who don't know who the Hybrid are, basically Samus Duran's work from what I know and in the process of making Protoss and Zerg fused DNA to create a new race. But Blizzard have stated that they will not be a playable race. But have said they make an entrance maybe in multiplayer. I only hope no creeps...
As for development of the game, it looks like 50% of the Terran units and buildings have been confirmed, Protoss about 70% and Zerg really about 10%. But my gamble is a beta release this summer. Open Beta hopefully.
As because I hate Blizzard's cheap way of downloading things off their site. I have went to youtube to show you the Zerg Trailer. commentated by Infested Kerrigan. This one comes after the Terran Trailer and hence goes over their immenent attack on the world. Expect the Protoss trailer soon, till then, enjoy this.

As usual, comments are welcome, simply sign up on the forums and get into the community. With SC2 imminent guests are more then welcome to join in the excitement. |

Before you start saying its not an actual release, I placed this picture up to make this article good. And it is.
After recent look ups at blizzard.com, I have been checking their job placements and took a day to read all of the diablo plots from 1 to 2 LOD and then I came across something...
If you check Blizzard's hiring Area, you will notice where the game that the job would be for says "Top Secret". Now, it says for upcoming next gen MMORPGs. So an unannounced MMORPG is on Blizzard's cards by the looks of things.
Earlier this year, Blizzard founding member and senior vice president of product development Frank Pearce said that the company had created a workforce titled "Team 3," comprised of about 40 members separate from the Starcraft and Warcraft teams. Pearce declined to give any details on what the team might be working on, only saying that "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can’t give you any hints, but it’s totally awesome."
So, a workforce that isn't to do with Starcraft or Warcraft games? Well, I don't see Blizzard making another franchise MMORPG without a classic story. Diablo would make perfect sense for an MMORPG. Imagine instances based on downing Mephisto etc. Doing quests like at level 20 of downing andariel. It can all be relived. I myself am very expectant for this to be a Diablo MMORPG. Obviously and probably not released till 2009 at least. 13 years past the release of the original Diablo I. But I have my cards on a 2011 release for 15 years of Diablo.
Remember, MMORPG's are not like RTS games. They don't take a year to make, they take a lot of time and dedication. Knowing Blizzard we know it took them a lot of time to release World Of Warcraft. But with their extra support funds from the success of WoW. It could take them a mere 4 years to make such an amazing and expectant MMORPG.
Until 2011, well, there is always Starcraft 2 this year.

There a new Cinematic (which sucks)
Theres heaps more stuff on Stacraft II recently added to the official website. Lots of Stuff on the Terran And Protoss Races, but nothing on the Zerg yet.
These three distinct and powerful races will clash once again in the fast-paced real-time strategy sequel to the legendary original, StarCraft. Legions of veteran, upgraded, and brand-new unit types will do battle across the galaxy, as each faction struggles for survival.
Featuring a unique single-player campaign that picks up where StarCraft: Brood War left off, StarCraft II will present a cast of new heroes and familiar faces in an edgy sci-fi story filled with adventure and intrigue. In addition, Blizzard will again offer unparalleled online play through Battle.net, the company's world-renowned gaming service, with several enhancements and new features to make StarCraft II the ultimate competitive real-time strategy game.
The Starcraft Forum is also taking off with plenty of posts.
