2007PC Gaming Takes a Back Seat2007, just like the previous year didn't really see any major changes to the games we play. We continued to play World of Warcraft and Age of Empires III, although an expansion did come out for World Of Warcraft, called The Burning Crusade, this certainly increased interest for several weeks, however, it soon became apparent that it was just the same game with some extra territory, quests and a new race. World of Warcraft became less popular with our members who were tired of playing a monthly subscription for a game which offered little in new challenges, however, the game did continue to be one of the biggest selling PC games of all time. Our web site certainly suffered this year with our forums becoming less and less busy due to the fact that PC gaming had taken a nose dive with fewer and fewer new released, and those which were released lacked the imagination of their predescessors. Has the golden age of PC gaming come and gone? - Only time will tell. Even though the site was not busy, we saw harldy any new recruit applications and even less people leaving than had in previous years. Our site because a place for old-timers to visit and chat about gaming in the hope that the golden age would return. Trying out new releases in hope that it would rekindle the Mighty Mystics into action, but alas, nothing came along. Personally, I played World of Warcraft for about 3 months of the year, but the rest of the time, I didnt play any PC games at all after that, invested in a gaming console (Ninetendo Wii) which offered some hope that computer gaming was not completely dead and had perhaps become more of a sociable pastime. Looking ahead, many of us are staying around waiting for the next big release. At the moment its Starcraft II, however, we are sure to be around for many years yet and hope that we are not too old in the tooth to play the games well when they eventually do arrive.
