2003The Mystics re-BornBy Mystic Briton
Early 2003 was a very active time for the mystics with us having up to 10 applicants a day to join the team at some times. We also introduced a new way of recruiting, we adapted the site so that all members could sign up new members and give them access to the registration process. We also introduced voting on recruits, so that each member would have a say on why the recruit should, or should not, be recruited. AOM was very popular and we partook on the Champions League AOM team knockout event and progressed to the finals. Mystic Thor became our AOM leader and stayed up very late some nights to ensure we had a team to play. Mystic Korean became one of the Beta testers for the Titans expansion pack to AOM. After the problems with last year's storm downing our web site, we decided that we must pay and have a hosted web site. To begin with, our web site was hosted by a German company called 1 & 1 internet, but they turned out to be too slow. We then switched to Nevidia in USA and they hosted the web site for over a year. With the web site hosting came additional functionality which I programmed in for the members, including live membership activation, registration and application. By the time the summer came, AOM was getting a little tired and many members switched back to Warcraft III, but when the War3 expansion the Frozen Throne was released in July, activity on Battlenet increased significantly. Battlenet allowed us to create a "clan" and have our own chat room. This was an innovation at the time and we made good advantage of it. Late in the year AOT - Age of Mythology the Titans expansion came out and attracted quite a lot of interest from our members.
